4-4.  Mechanism

Inflammation stage

Pro-Hyp (PO) and Hyp-Gly (OG) concentrations elevate in the wound site, promoting MMP9 production. MMP9 is an enzyme that breaks down damaged collagen and promotes skin remodeling.

Proliferative stage

Pro-Hyp and Hyp-Gly promotes the migration and proliferation of skin cells, closing the wound site.

Convalescence stage

Stimulating the synthesis of new collagen in the dermis, it restores to the original amount of collagen. Pro-Hyp also promotes hyaluronic acid synthesis.

4-5.  Animal Studies

[ Animal Studies Conditions ]

Wistar rats, after pressure ulcer creation by biopsy
 ● Casein group : feed with 15% casein
Collagen peptide group : feed with 10% casein and 5% collagen peptide
 ● Evaluation : wound area, new collagen amount, MMP-9

The wound area was significantly reduced in collagen peptide group compared to the casein group, and the amount of newly produced collagen recovered from 1 day after wound formation until there was no significant difference from the normal time. In the collagen peptide group, MMP9, which plays a role of cleaning wounds, was distributed mainly in the basement membrane, whereas in the casein group, MMP9 was scattered and showed chronic inflammation.
