Improvement of bone density and bone strength in osteoporosis model rats

In ovariectomy (OVX) rats, the hormone is imbalanced and the state becomes osteoporosis-like. However, the intake of collagen peptides improved bone density and bone strength.

Using OVX rat (n = 10), Collagen peptides 2.5g / day in human equivalent amount for 90 days.

Mean ± SD, * p <0.05 (vs water group)

Using Wistar female rats (n = 10 per group), normal group, OVX-treated casein group, gelatin group (5% substitution diet), Collapep JB group (5% substitution diet, human equivalent 7.5 g / day). Ingested for 12 weeks.
Mean ± SD, significant difference between different signs, p <0.05

6-2.  Mechanism of bone quality improvement

Osteoclasts were activated by the addition of Pro-Hyp (PO) and suppressed by the addition of Hyp-Gly (OG). Osteoblasts were activated by the addition of PO and OG. It was suggested that PO and OG, which are the active components of collagen peptide, promoting bone remodeling.

TRAP staining
Tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase is stained, the larger the area, the more activated the osteoclasts.

ALP staining
Staining with alkaline phosphatase, the larger the red area, the more activated the osteoblasts. (Factors to be promoted in bone)
