4-1. | Effects on pressure ulcers |
In previous pressure ulcer prevention and management guidelines, zinc, arginine and ascorbic acid were the only specific supplements for pressure ulcer.
Collagen peptide was added as an effective nutrient for total care after pressure ulcer occurrence in the guideline revised in 2015.
● | Double-blind placebo controlled randomized trial |
● | Age 39 - 65 |
Pressure ulcer patients (middle level, stage 2-3)
Basic nursing care was also done(meal, changing position)
● | Placebo 42 subjects |
Collagen peptide 39 subjects
● | 10 g/day, 16 weeks (112 days) |
● | Evaluation : PUSH score, PSST score |
Placebo : | simulated medicine |
Double-blind : | neither the doctors nor the subjects knew who received what treatment |

Both PUSH and PSST scores were improved by 20% in the placebo group with standard treatment. However, in the collagen peptide group, the scores were significantly improved by 72% or more.
PUSH, PSST score: The score of the wound depth, amount of wetting fluid, color, size, degree of inflammation, presence or absence of starting tissue, etc. of the patient by a doctor.

4-2. | Improvement of basic body conditions |
It was confirmed that the total protein level and serum albumin level, which indicate the basic body conditions, were improved. In conclusion, the general health condition was also improved by collagen peptide.

4-3. | Evaluation by photographic images |

Unit: cm~{2}
