At Nitta Gelatin, we address human rights both within our own operations and across our supply chain, in accordance with our Supplier Code of Conduct, which includes provisions related to human rights. By asking suppliers to endorse and uphold these principles, we work together to prevent and eliminate human rights issues.
Guided by our corporate philosophy—“empathy and sincerity as the foundation, enabling employees to lead prosperous and fulfilling lives”—we conduct our business activities with respect for the human rights of all stakeholders. We comply with international human rights standards and the laws of each country and promote the following initiatives to fulfill our responsibility to uphold human rights.
1. Identification and Response to Human Rights Risks
We identify and assess potential and actual human rights risks and implement appropriate measures to prevent or mitigate them. We also continuously evaluate the effectiveness of these actions through human rights due diligence.
2. Promotion of Education and Dialogue
We provide regular training for executives and employees and engage in dialogue and consultation with stakeholders, making use of guidance from external experts.
3. Establishing Systems and Providing Remedy
We establish systems to promote business activities that respect human rights. In the event that our business activities have a negative impact on human rights, we take appropriate remedial actions through mechanisms such as grievance procedures.
